Ray Legere
Ray Legere is a world-renowned fiddle and mandolin player based in Sackville, New Brunswick. Known for his remarkable technique and energy, he has toured internationally and recorded with top artists across genres, including Tony Rice, Alison Krauss, David Grisman, and Doc Watson. He famously filled in for Bill Monroe, the father of bluegrass, in 1982.
A highly sought-after session musician, Ray has appeared on over 500 recordings and released seven solo albums. He collaborates widely, performing with acts such as Rita MacNeil, John McDermott, Bowfire, and numerous New Brunswick artists, while also running his own recording studio.
Ray’s versatility spans bluegrass, classical, and country, and he regularly performs throughout the Maritimes. His accomplishments include multiple ECMA awards, two National Mandolin Championships, induction into the New Brunswick and Nova Scotia Country Music Halls of Fame, and an honorary doctorate from Mount Allison University.
